I got a takeaway. It was large.
My second big restaurant takeaway of the month - this one designed to reduce my shopping requirement to zero the weekend before Christmas to keep me quarantined-ish ahead of parental trip. Which... well. Is still legal, but unconfirmed yet. We'll see.
This was excellent, anyway. I greatly endorse keeping whatever restaurant you can alive in January, and your own spirits up, with This Sort of Thing. This is from the punning (and hard to say) Dishpatch menu selection for December, which had extensive mezze. Really, really extensive. I got four meals out of it. And they were splendid. (They do nationwide delivery.) Veggie, intriguing, varied, lush.
Lunches were the cold mezze: hummus with chickpeas and chilli oil, labneh with confit garlic, pickles and bread.
This is half of it on the plate. Blimey. |
First dinner was braised carrots with some delicious spiced cauliflower puree, apricot garnish and parsley. And falafel with tahini. (Plus extra salad, for vitamings.)
And second dinner was a SLAB of halloumi, with honey and black sesame. And potato latkes with toum. The latkes mostly fell apart in the pan, but eh, chips. I have been saying TOUM in a pleased voice since I got to this bit, as well as wafting glorious garlic.
And finally, truffles so squidgy they almost fall apart in your fingers.
It would be possible to make a fair bit of this at home, especially with some judicious dip-buying. It would definitely be more fun in company. And yes, there's a ton of plastic in this. It's not one for doing too often. But it has absolutely made this grim weekend more fun.
Wow, that looks wonderful. And you are right TOUM is a very pleasing word! :)
