Pass the port*

Oh, lads. I really have thought the last couple of weeks that we might soon cancel Confined Cocktails because, I don't know, this virus isn't like all the other viruses and might just be leaving us alone, so normal life is coming back. This does *not* appear to be happening, does it? We've had our first Confined Kitchen quarantinee for ages, the numbers are baaaaaad.

And benighted app should be launching soon. I hope it works. I will download the app (civic duty, smug smile etc). But I am so freaked at the thought of quarantining, which becomes so much more likely if you're using a movement app and going *anywhere* with other people. At the moment, my intrusions onto Test and Trace are very occasional - a few well-spread gallery visits, two whole lunches out, and a promise of drinks next weekend (which may mean I miss our six month anniversary cocktails - tbc but I will be drink in hand). If there's an app, any tube journey becomes not only a possible vector for actual disease, but for mandatory quarantine bouts, over and over. I know we've managed so many things that would have led us screaming from the room if someone had told us on January 1 this is how 2020 would go, but... stuck in my two room flat, alone, no walks, no breaks, no visitors... gives me the claustrophobe shivers.

However. Civic duty. Bastard virus needs containing. Resolve, and go on, yes?

Meanwhile, cocktails. And splendid snacks, too. I shall be on Gruener Veltliner tonight, but I'll be having it with some lovely roasted cobnuts from our *Sunday* farmers' market (smaller than the Saturday, but good for snackage, isn't suburban living just nice sometimes?).

Come along at 7 on twitter, hashtag #ConfinedCocktails, all welcome, all manner of drinks welcome, and let's face the future, whatever new challenges we find, yes?

*Inset drink of choice. Port is one of the few drinks I don't have to hand yet. But give it time, 2020 has driven me to stranger things.

  1. There is always time for port! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the numbers improve in the near future, but I have my doubts.

Hope you had a lovely cocktail hour :)
