It’s been almost a month since my last post. The life is coming back here. We go out, see friends and family, go to cafè and restaurants. It’s still a little difficult for me because I’m not yet completely at ease among other people (some don’t wear masks the right way). But the desire to do all those things is too big.
I had two short day trips in the last weekends. I didn’t cook a lot but I’d like to share with you these first new old experiences.

I and a friend went and visited our friend Sara in Torre Pellice, a little town at the foot of the mountain. I really suggestion to you Pellice Valley for a short holiday next year: quiet, nature, perfumes of trees, cheese, honey and ... archives (Methodist and Waldensian Cultural heritage Portal: I'm sure you are interested!).

On Sunday I found out that lavender fields bloom in Piemonte too as in Provence! Wonderful! Bright, coloured, scended. Too sunny: my arms are cyclamen turning red.

One of the evenings of last week I did dinner with some friends in a city center garden. A sort of picnic. We bought pizza and I took muffins for dessert.
Cherries season is ended here (due to the famous “worms of St. John”) but peaches season is in blossoming. I really adore summer fruits from cherries in May to figs in early September: strawberries, blackberries, apricots, peaches, loquats, plums, melons, watermelons … I want all!
I usually prefer eat these fruits uncooked but this time I did peaches muffins.
Simple recipe but without eggs: 250 g flour, 120 g sugar, 120 g butter, 300 ml milk, baking powder, 2 peaches.
After all the disastrous quarantine cakes, these muffins were very good, soft and sweet.
PS Sorriso the Turtle is getting better little by little.
I really like the sound of those muffins: simple but effective.
ReplyDeleteAnd in 45 minute more or less you’re done! (or you’ve done?!? My English totters).
DeleteThose peach muffins look delicious. I'll have to try making some when I can get some nice ripe peaches.
