And today I had my first little walk in the park near home since more than two months ago!!! Lockdown has entered in Step 2: we can have walks, run, visit relatives, some shops reopen. We must be cautious and go slow, very slow. I’m still working from home in next weeks but I’m fearful and a lot of questions whirl in my mind: how will it be when I’ll have to take a bus? Or go in little shops? But today a first step: a walk alone in midday (so fews were around).
Meanwhile, there was an another first time: my first fish dish in quarantine.
I really like fish but I’m not so good at cooking it. I like fish, sea fruits, crustaceans, everything from sea ... oh how I miss spaghetti with clams, risotto with sea fruits, gamberi alla catalana but my favorite: every kind of fishes on grill, olive oil, little salt and fresh oregano. I can smell the scent and here I am in the summer sun of Sicily long long ago.
But my first fish dish in lockdown had not the power to take me elsewhere but it was good. Last Thursday I went to supermarket and wandering around shelves and aisles I took my eyes over sardine.
So Sardine pie (or sardine lasagne):
Sardine cleaned and boned (I did it myself!)
Potatoes
Breadcrumbs
Two slices of garlic
White and black pepper
Half of lemon
Thyme
First of all, slice potatoes like chips, then mix breadcrumbs, pepper, garlic, thyme, salt zests of lemon and little oil. In another cup mix oil, salt and lemon juice. So, prepare lasagne: a layer of sardine, a layer of potatoes, mix of breadcrumbs and oil with lemon, and repeat until the pan is full. Put in oven at 170/180 for 20 minutes.
Delicious, healthy and cheap: what else?
PS Two sardines left. I shared with Sorriso the Turtle. She boned them perfectly and appreciated a lot.
Sorriso wish you a good night!
This looks really good - we haven't had much fish from anyone, have we, apart from All The Salmon (and one hake from Ruth). It's good to see you making yourself something tasty, even if it's not quite Elsewhere yet.
ReplyDeleteSorriso's excellent sardine technique made me smile. Buona notte!
Hmm. Never tried sardines on the kids (yet) but I do like this idea.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the partial release! And can we have a pic of Sorriso?
I haven’t posted a pic of Sorriso yet because I‘m not sure that nobody is scared by turtles. Cats and dogs are good for everyone but exotic pets are not so. For example Ihave a real phobia for snake and I don’t tolerate either pictures or drawings (I know that’s weird I’ve a turtle but she has legs and shell and hasn’t tongue!). So I try to respect others and their hypothetical phobias. But if you want I’ve a lot of photos of Sorriso the Turtle :-)
DeleteWe'd love a photo of Sorriso, but thank you for being cautious (spiders would definitely not be welcome in close up here). The blog format uses the first photo you upload as the title image on the homepage, but so as long as you put it later in the post you can easily put something in introduction to say there's a turtle photo later on, and people won't be surprised. Something to look forward to!
