Weekly review 4

Yes, 4. Wow. We've been doing this a while, huh? It feels absolutely endless and also still weird and new, at least to me. The blog has calmed down quite a bit this week, but we had a bumper crop last weekend. There has been a lot of broccoli (not all of it mine), hot cross buns and slow-cooker cake experimentation. We've had excellent using it ups, from very small fish pieces to radicchio, fabulous smoked almonds, and more entries in the 'risotto is for quarantine' stakes, including oatmeal-as-risotto (a qualified success). I personally have both set off my smoke alarm and discovered a kitchen mouse, so it's possible I will blog less next week - things are ill-starred at present, it seems.

A plate with a handful of rocket leaves on
Rocket. Because it's bouncy.

But on the bright side, we've had some very cheerful #ConfinedSpring entries, which is grand. We're all still healthy (including our quarantiners, thank goodness), and it's Easter weekend in the UK, so none of us need be on a strained Zoom call where the chair's sound keeps on cutting out for another few days. (I hope.) I've also spent the last 3 days with the 2019 Headingley Test commentary as intermittent background. Surreal, both because we know who wins and how, and because it is the entire match commentary. Many hours of padding during rain delays on Day One included. Now that's what I call lockdown listening: live hours of nothing happening, from the past. Suddenly, making your own sourdough starter doesn't seem like such a wacky project, huh?

We will cocktail tomorrow night - same as last week, if you'd like to join us at 7pm. #ConfinedCocktails is our shortened hashtag, and there's a list if you'd prefer to avoid the rest of twitter tomorrow night.
