Or, well, rather: Friday night's 'hurrah the week is over!' meal was fuelled almost entirely by bitter (ie Seville) orange.
Menu:
- Rum sour, with Seville orange juice replacing the orange and lime juice specified
- Fried leftover potatoes with white bean dip (essentially hummus but made with cannellini beans, and cheating because it contained no orange)
- Nigella's chicken, fennel and Seville orange bake, with the chicken quantities dialled right down and the marinade dialled up a bit. (And a wistful memory of Liz while contemplating the fennel bulbs in their supermarket bag.)
- Rachel Roddy's chocolate and orange tart, which I made in a third quantity, because the original would be enormous. It's the dead spit of a chocolate tart that Cazimir's café in Cambridge used to sell (without the orange and topped with fresh raspberries) in the early noughties. The café -- run by two Polish sisters -- was an utter delight, and I still miss it now even though it closed down some time around 2007.
