Hello all. I hope some of you are around for Confined Cocktails (tomorrow, as ever, at 7pm). It'll be lovely to see you. I don't have special plans for it, but I will be heavily on the pina coladas thanks to a) being off the big pills, b) inspiration from the Spirits, and c) the fact that a cocktail involving only 30ml coconut milk per drink is quite a commitment in a single person household if you just have a normal-sized tin to hand. I may do some without the rum, for self-preservation reasons.
*However*, next Friday, 29 July, is, incredibly but undeniably, our 500th day in the Confined Kitchen. And that, I think, wants marking for the following #ConfinedCocktails. If it pleases you, do plan for a celebratory half-millennial cocktail next Saturday, perhaps an excuse for some fizz or that complicated mix you've been meaning to do? Or a tin of Pimms but with an *actual strawberry*?
Or if you're not feeling like drinking fancily, or you want another fun thing, maybe this is time for #ConfinedSnackalong? We've had a lovely theme of delicious and stylish snackage with our #ConfinedCocktails for ages, but feel free to go all out this time. (Yes, yes, I will open the truffle crisps, people.)
And/or, it's warm, it's summer, it's possibly time for ice cream? Or... ice cream sundae? An advanced case of #ConfinedSnackalong, and a chance to have some fun on Saturday afternoon/evening. I.. may have stocked up on some fancy ice cream and soda already.
No pressure, no worries, I hope some of you have outside plans for next weekend anyway. There have been a few signs of hope in the last couple of days (is that case fall real? That would be such a relief, if it's sustained). Many of us are double jabbed now. Escaping the Confined Kitchen is a lovely happy thing. But we're still here when needed.
If you need snackalong ideas, please note my dinner for the last two nights is fancy eggy bread, from Ripe Figs, which is basically all I'm cooking from next week too. Cardamom in the egg mix, tahini and date molasses splurted over? That'll do. Even an ice cream sundae would struggle against that.
I have just remembered the seville orange I have saved in the freezer: ice cream, for the making of.
ReplyDeleteOh, and here's an always-reliable dead-easy lemon ice cream recipe: https://confinedkitchen.blogspot.com/2020/03/dont-make-lemonade.html
