It's been an incredibly quiet week for me. Not a bad one, but any idea of unlockdown feels a very long time away. I suppose it'll come, but I feel exceedingly stuck. That said, I am ROARING through The Mirror and the Light, which I bought in a panic just before our first ever lockdown and have been using as a tablet stand for yoga ever since. But I seem to be out of my reading slump for proper good. I am relieved.
However, Confined Cocktails remain relevant. I highly recommend the Manhattans Project cocktail deliveries, partly for the radical joy of their options (Corpse Reviver #2 in this pack, but with blue curacao. We. Shall. See), but also because they included a popup cocktail flamingo in this month's delivery and goodness it made me happy.
Here last night, modelled by a Manhattan with two cherries, why not? Tonight, I'm thinking a small Unusual Negroni (thanks Kate, you are a cocktailspiration), because I have a fairly serious red wine for actual dinner for once. Four days off in a row and all kinds of excitement seems warranted. I might even reuse the flamingo, though it should probably retire soon.
Lockdown: you take your amusement where you can. And if that's in a glass... well, I'm there with you. See you at 7? I know some of you have been Confined Crafting all afternoon and probably deserve snacks... And I also know quiiiite a few of us have signed up to a JacobinDay craft project which I am slightly scared of and also very glad of. Not everything in life need be cocktails. Apparently.
