Early Autumn … and Fear is at the Door again

Hello, blog mates!
I'm back after a long long time.
When September came, like lots of people, I thought that I can come back to a semi-normal life. I took trains, went to Rome, to seaside for a weekend. Along with normal life, it's reappeared frenzied rhythms.

And now: we're her again. Covid-19 is still among us, infections continue to raise, new restrictions are set, friends are Covid positive (one of my brother has been waiting swab test results for a week ... fortunately he's fine but he's been closed at home for 15 days!). I feel little worried again like in March. But the we went toward summer and hot months, now instead long cold days awaits us. I'm really worried and I know you can understand me.

For fighting against these sad thoughts, I cook. Main dishes between last glimpses of summer and first red leaves of autumn.
Vegetables you can see in photos are 100% organic from our garden. Last fruits of season.

Soup with black cabbage (base of Tuscan ribollita), potatoes, onion, chickpeas. Soak chickpeas night long, chop cabbage, potatoes and onion, put in 2 liters of water and let boil.

A Mediterranean pasta: pepper, aubergine, cherries tomatoes, garlic, peppers.

A classic confined risotto: peppers and thyme (note the kettle for a rapid broth).

I'm very proud of this pepper: it's a local variety from Capriglio (https://www.comune.capriglio.at.it/it/point-of-interest/un-cuore-di-peperone), village where my family comes from. Next year all of you are invited in Capriglio.

PS Sorriso the Turtle is finally fine! Gradually she can return to her aquarium and leave her confined pink box. We got through it! We're happy.

  1. It is good news about Sorriso! It does seem to be about the only good news at the moment - things are getting bad again here as well. Like you, we're just staying in and trying to cook nice food.
