Well, that was fun! Thank you, everyone who has spent part of this afternoon up to the elbows in sugar and chocolate while also trying to tweet. There was #ConfinedCookalong joy with over a dozen people for company. (And we're already talking about cocktails - which will of course be at 7pm!*)
Brownies were made. To many, many recipes. Some even to comparator recipes in a really serious critical brownie approach. Success! (While Kate made caramel tarts and Rachel made financiers, for variety, and Ruth did a pistachio shortbread *as well* - deeply impressive.)
Discussion was had about the unflattering nature of aprons. Like a sack of spuds.
Bowls were licked, or not licked, according to taste.
Tea was drunk. And many surfaces were cleaned. (The washing up is always with us. --> one of my Dad's most relevant, and heartfelt, sayings. Boy, do I feel that at the moment.)
Most importantly - there was company. It was genuinely lovely to know so many of us were doing something together, even if together-apart. I looked forward to it all week, while the news has not been giving us a lot to be positive about, and it was joyful when it came.
If people are interested, I definitely want to do that risotto-along next month (for a certain value of risotto which leaves a lot open to choice), and probably a festive-item-of-choice cookalong in December. I hope some of you had fun too and will be able to join me!
*I'm drinking beer, thanks to a suggestion from Katie B and another fun thing I've been doing this weekend. But cocktail beer...
It sounds like it was a lot of fun. Sorry I couldn't participate in parallel - daily chores got in the way. But I am going to bake this afternoon and pretend I've time shifted. Your brownies look really good!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun! A bit hectic, and I shan't try to whisk and tweet simultaneously again... but fun. Enjoy your baking :-)
