Raise a Glass

Folks, I don't know how to break it to you, but it's been six months in the Confined Kitchen.

I know we did this pre-emptively at cocktail hour last week, but it's been SIX MONTHS.

I think we're pretty amazing, to be honest. We're all still here, we've created a funny, supportive, niche little community that shares both Good Things to Put On Toast and significant mental collywobbles in a fairly open way that *definitely* helps people (thank you, people who've messaged me over the months, I am very glad we're here too).

Things aren't looking too great at the moment. I know some of you are back in restrictions, and there are rumblings of it for me too. I'm still hopeful of going away next week (from a London borough with a fairly stable 14 cases per 100k to Bath, which has 8 cases per 100k, hopefully not too unwelcome - but by train, which is less good). But I don't think there's a lot of jolly gallivanting ahead.

And for only the second time in this six months, I'm going out for Saturday night, cautiously, while I still can. So I hope you will cocktail hour together without me, but I'm ahead of you on the negronis. I'm pretty sure we deserve it.

As the nights draw in, and the world locks down again, I'd love to do some more things collectively. If anyone has a challenge idea, please challenge away. And I'm thinking of that mutual risotto cooking evening in November, maybe.

Comments

  1. Loving the sound of the mutual risotto. I am cr*p at making risotto, would happily learn top tips from the #ConfinedKitchen!

  2. I love the risotto-along idea. Would there be enthusiasm for a bake-along, too? Pick a straightforward recipe, and anyone who wants to has a bash at following it to the letter or adapting in their own unique way or whatever? And we settle down with a cuppa over the results one afternoon? (And, much as I hate to bring December up in conversation ... a Festive Season recipe/traditions swap?)
