It's cocktail time

Hi everyone,

It's 7pm, it's Saturday, it's time for a drink. We've made it this far. I hope you've had a good day. I hope you've had a good week, come to that.

I'm thinking today we might raise our glasses to supermarket workers, who have been having a hell of a time while their work circumstances change dramatically too - and who are making confined cooking as possible as they can.

Cheers, all.

Hand with large glass of purple liquid
Cheers!
My drink is work-related too. It's what I have drunk in many, many hotel rooms during my ex-work travel days. A compromise between health (mmmm, beetroot and blackcurrant juice) and joy (mmmm, red wine) with the advantage that the beetroot and blackcurrant makes station wine a *lot* more drinkable.

The same full glass, next to a plastic juice bottle labelled M&S Beetroot and Blackcurrant
I call it the M&S Special

Because I'm at home, and I can, I've added a splodge of cassis to the mix. Which is fancy. It should probably be garnished with a leafy celery stick for style, but a) I've got no celery and b) I hate celery.

Happy drinking, boozy or otherwise. We made it through a week of madness.

  1. Hmm, I have red wine and cassis, but no beetroot and blackcurrant juice. However, I have prosecco, so could add the cassis to that when it gets to cocktail hour here.

Cheers my dear and here's to all the supermarket workers, they're doing a terrific job.

    1. Red wine and cassis is also nice on its own (though I'd use it for disguising rough red, not if it's nice - much in the spirit of this cocktail!).

Cheers to you, and thanks for joining us in spirit.
